How does Memora find a photo I cannot remember filing?

During indexing a local vision model (CLIP) turns every picture into a compact numeric description of what it shows. When you type a search, the same model reads your words and Memora ranks the library by how closely each image matches, blending the visual match with an AI-written caption and any keywords or EXIF data. There is no tagging homework first. Type "red bicycle in the rain" and the results come back in seconds, whether the file is called DSC_0417.ARW or IMG_2291.jpg. Search runs on your GPU when one is present (DirectML by default, CUDA with the optional NVIDIA pack) and falls back to the CPU otherwise.

What stays on my computer?

Everything that matters. Indexing, captioning, semantic search, face recognition, culling, RAW development and editing all run on your machine, and no photo, thumbnail, caption, face signature or GPS coordinate is ever transmitted. There is no analytics or crash-reporting SDK in the app. Memora contacts shutterdev.com only to check licensing and updates, and it downloads its AI models once on first use. Unlike Google Photos, iCloud or Lightroom's cloud, nothing about your library is scanned on someone else's server, and the app keeps working offline after setup.

Do I have to give up Lightroom or Capture One?

No. Memora opens your Lightroom Classic catalog (.lrcat) read-only and imports ratings, keywords and folder structure without touching the original catalog or moving a single file. Capture One catalogs import the same way. RAW files decode natively through a three-tier decoder covering more than a thousand camera models, with per-camera color profiles, so ARW, CR2, CR3, DNG, NEF, ORF, RAF and RW2 files render properly instead of falling back to embedded previews. Watched folders are read in place; if you edit, the adjustments are stored as data and the file your camera wrote stays untouched.

What is free and what does Pro add?

The free version has no time limit and no subscription. Browsing, RAW decoding, basic AI search, catalog import, the core editing sliders, the duplicate finder and the photo map are all included. Memora Pro is a one-time purchase that adds Face Recognition and People, AI Culling, Collections, the Timeline, photo tags, USB and SD card import, batch export and video playback.
