It indexes the folders you point it at, writes a description for every picture, and lets you find shots by typing what you remember seeing instead of hunting through dated folders. Search by what a photo shows

Describe the shot you are after and Memora ranks your library against it. A local AI model reads the pictures themselves, so this works on files you never keyworded. More on AI semantic search.

Albums that fill themselves

Portraits, landscapes, wildlife, food, travel and dozens of other categories are populated as photos are indexed, with no tagging on your part. More on smart albums.

Native RAW decoding

CR2, CR3, ARW, NEF, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, SRW and DNG all open directly, with per-camera colour profiles so the rendering matches what the body intended. More on RAW support.

Your existing catalogs

Lightroom Classic and Capture One catalogs import with ratings, colour labels and keywords preserved, and your files stay where they are on disk. More on catalog import.

Non-destructive editing

Exposure, contrast, colour, white balance and the rest are stored as data in the catalog. Your original file is never rewritten, and export bakes the edits into a fresh JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP or BMP with EXIF intact.

Nothing leaves your PC

Indexing, captioning, search and categorisation run on your own CPU and GPU. There is no analytics SDK and no telemetry in the app. Details in the privacy policy.

System requirements

Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit. Memora is Windows only, with no macOS, Linux or mobile build.
Installer: MemoraSetup-0.1.24.exe, roughly 411 MB.
Graphics: optional. AI runs on DirectML by default, on CUDA if you install the NVIDIA pack, and on the CPU otherwise. CPU mode is slower but complete. AI Denoise specifically needs an NVIDIA card.
Disk space: allow a few gigabytes beyond the installer. AI models download once on first use and are cached locally, alongside thumbnails and the catalog database.
Network: needed for the first-run model download, licensing and update checks. Everyday use works offline.

Installing and getting started

Run MemoraSetup-0.1.24.exe and follow the installer.
Open Memora and add a folder of photos. Adding a folder does not copy or move anything, it indexes the files where they already live.
Let the first index run. Memora downloads its AI models once, then captions and analyses your photos in the background. A large archive takes a while on the first pass and is quick after that.
Start searching by description. Ratings, filters and smart albums are there once indexing catches up.

Seven days in, the app asks you to register a free license. Registration takes an email address, keeps working on that computer, and costs nothing. A step-by-step walkthrough lives in the Memora tutorial.

Is Memora really free?

Yes. The free version has no time limit and no subscription. Browsing your library, RAW decoding, basic AI search, smart albums, catalog import and the core editing sliders are all included. Pro is a separate one-time purchase of 29.99 EUR that unlocks face recognition, AI culling, collections, the timeline, photo tags, USB and SD card import, and video playback.

Do I need an account to download Memora?

No account is required to download and install. After seven days the app asks you to register a free license, which takes an email address and keeps the app working on that computer.

What are the system requirements?

Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit. A GPU is optional: AI features use DirectML by default, CUDA if you install the NVIDIA pack, and fall back to the CPU otherwise, which is slower but works. Allow a few gigabytes of disk space for the AI models Memora downloads once on first use.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Indexing, captioning, semantic search, categorisation and RAW development all run on your own machine, and no photo, thumbnail, caption, face signature or GPS coordinate is ever transmitted. The app contacts shutterdev.com only for licensing and update checks, sending a license ID, the app version and an anonymous hashed processor fingerprint.

Will Memora change or move my original photos?

Watched folders are read in place and never modified. Edits are stored as data in the local catalog, so the original file on disk stays exactly as your camera wrote it. Importing from a memory card copies files into your Pictures folder and leaves the card untouched.

Does a donation give me Pro features?

No. Donations support development and lift a free license to three computers with no donation prompts in the app, but they do not unlock any Pro feature. Pro is a separate one-time purchase of 29.99 EUR.

Can I install Memora on more than one computer?

A free license covers one computer. Donors and Pro licenses both cover three. If your hardware changes, request a license update from the support page and it is handled within about a day.
