A search layer, not a replacement
Capture One is very good at what it does. Finding a frame from three years ago is not that thing.
Photographers who shoot tethered rarely want to leave Capture One, and this page is not an argument that they should. Colour handling, tethered capture and raw development are its strengths, and Memora does not try to compete on any of them.
What tends to be missing is retrieval. Sessions and catalogs accumulate, folder names stop meaning anything after a couple of years, and locating one specific frame turns into an afternoon. Memora reads your existing catalog, analyses each photo locally, and lets you describe the picture you want instead of remembering where you filed it.
Both tools then point at the same files. Memora indexes in place and opens the catalog read-only, so nothing you have built in Capture One is altered, duplicated or put at risk by trying this.
What to expect, and what not to
- Rendering differs. Memora uses its own raw decoder and per-camera colour profiles, so a frame will look camera-accurate rather than identical to your Capture One version.
- Read-only. Memora indexes the catalog. It does not write adjustments back into it.
- Files stay put. Images on a disconnected drive will not display until it is reconnected.
- Windows only. There is no macOS, Linux or mobile build.
- Photos, not video. Videos can live in the library and play, but the AI analyses still images only.

Capture One import questions
Does Memora modify my Capture One catalog?
No. The catalog is opened read-only so Memora can index what is inside it. Capture One is unaffected and can keep using the same catalog.
Do I have to import my photos again?
No. Memora indexes the images where they already sit on disk, so nothing is copied, moved or renamed. A connected external drive is still required for images stored on one.
What does this add that Capture One does not already do?
Search by description. Memora analyses each photo locally and lets you find frames by typing what you remember seeing, which is a different job from the tethering, colour work and raw development Capture One is built for.
Can I keep shooting tethered in Capture One?
Yes. Nothing about this changes your capture workflow. Memora sits alongside as a way to search and browse the results afterwards.
Will the photos look the same as in Capture One?
Not exactly. Memora decodes raw files with its own decoder and per-camera colour profiles, so expect a camera-accurate rendering rather than a match for Capture One's interpretation.
